Ingrown hair affects many people, especially the youth. They are hairs which disguise themselves as an inflated bump which can cause redness and itching. At times, ingrown hair can get very painful and cause a lot of irritation. Treating ingrown hair can be very difficult and here are some of the things which one can try to get rid of them.
Exfoliate the Area
Most of the times one can get rid of ingrown hairs by exfoliating them. You might want to get rid of them before it gets very painful and become huge, aching bump. It’s recommended that an individual should exfoliate the area twice a day by using honey, baking soda and nutmeg powder. This combination will help in removing all the dead skin cells and also reduce the inflammation. Along with this honey will also help in healing the dry skin which can bring the hair on the skin.
Use Hot Water
Applying heat to the affected area can be very effective. Once you see the top of your hair on the skin, you should compress it to make the skin softer and also open the pores which can help the hair in coming out. It’s also recommended that running washcloth under the hot water and pressing it on the affected area for 10 minutes can reduce the damage.
Use Sharp Instruments
One should always make sure to use a clean and sharp tool to remove the ingrown hair. Using a pointed tip tweezers can be very effective as one should first soak it into alcohol before rubbing it on the affected areas. Alcohol can remove all the bacteria’s which can get exposed to blades. While removing it’s very important to get the complete hair without breaking it on the surface of the skin. The best way to do this is by avoiding to cut the hair until the hair has some kind of length and also making sure that you have a good pair of tweezers.
Reduce the inflammation
This is the most important part of getting rid of the ingrown hair completely. It’s very important that you bring down the inflammation and cool the area completely. To make this happen one should try out an after shave lotion, Shea moisture or tea tree bump preventer. Most of these products are loaded with Vitamin E which can speed up the process of healing.
